I hear the extra lead in Chinese meat really adds some zing to the flavor.

Talking heads inside that box told me that Canada complained to the WTO claiming USA and Mexico were discriminating against them because of labels.

The next part is a bit fuzzy - the talking heads told me either Canada wanted to impose billions in punitive tariffs to make up for whatever losses the discrimination caused, or Canada wants to impose billions in punitive because of the losses the discrimination caused.

I'm not all that concerned by all that lead in foodstuffs coming from PRC.  It's all the other stuff.

stay safe.

Wouldn't Canada be affected by the tarrifs more than us?

That's my take on it too.
Fish was not included in the labeling change.
I do not buy fish/seafood from china.

I'm perplexed. Is this another in Balog's continuing series on Stupid GOP Tricks, or are you applauding the GOP for voting for smaller government?

Why is it that the only parts of .gov that ever get smaller are the Constitutional and morally defensible ones?

So you're opposed to the repeal?

So you're opposed to the repeal?

I don't have a well formed opinion yet as this is the first I've heard of it but yes at first blush I am.

Canadians buying goods Americans won't?

More like "leveling" the prices between cheap Mexican goods transported across the USA to Canada against the prices of Made-in-Canada stuff.

Very opposed to it. Our gov't may be seriously screwed but I have some confidence that the USDA makes a large contribution to food safety. No such confidence about China. I buy lots of generics too, want to see all of those labeled.

I only buy chinese if its my only choice, and never if its something I'm going to eat. There is nothi g about their country that has ever impressed me as ethical.

It really does seem to me that labeling requirements are analogous to the uniform weights and measures part of the Constitution. Not disclosing the fact that your package of mystery meat was raised in a carcinogenic hellhole third world country seems quite a bit worse than calling something that weighs 15.5oz a lb.
