...and those things were my underwear.

I wonder just how much pilferage isn't noticed or not reported because the victims don't think anything will come of it.

And he nails the reason why it should be privatized to each airport.

Every time I've flown my dialysis machine and luggage gets searched.  And it's inevitable that shortly after each trip, I'll have to have my machine replaced because they damage it.  Also, my personal stuff also looks like it was repacked by 5 year olds.  Which is also why anything of value travels on my person, and not in checked luggage.

The only things I've lost are the caps for my dialysis catheter, which look like ammonia capsules that they use to wake the unconscious. However, mine are filled with Iodine, but again, I carry spares in my carry on luggage.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,

Still wrong, but yeah... maybe not a total mystery why her underwear was stolen.  =D
I promise not to duck.

Oops,

I had just read another story link that had a picture of a guy as the author.  I got confused.   Besides I was young at the time, and just experimenting.  It never happened again.

Wait, what was the question??

I lost a favorite knife out of my duffel in transit.- it was just a worn old almar but had a lot of good memories attached-stuff like opening tin cans with it up in the Arctic when all the rest of our stuff had been lost in a raft upset. Still remember my Dad's smile when I pulled a airline size bottle of whiskey out of my remaining kit. Cold, wet, almost out of food and very thankful our sleeping bags had not gone down the river. Funny how a hell of a trip can end up with good memories, eh?

Don't know how big a dialysis machine is,  but my trick is to always fly with a gun.  Case gets locked when it leaves my possession and I have the only key.  Just get a big enough pelican case to carry any other stuff you don't want farked with.

Always seems like it's the the things that sucked at the time but turned out OK in the end that make the best memories.

Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

The last time I flew, I decided last minute to not pack as much and not check my bag (which I decided at the airport)

glad I did that. I would have been pissed as hell if they messed with my stuff like that, especially on the way back as I had items which, if messed up, I would have raised holy hell.
