I will be getting in the mail a hub puller for very small motors. The center screw that presses against the hub shaft will be too thick. I need something thinner than 1/16". I was thinking of having the center screw of the hub puller go into the threaded part of a basketball inflation needle, and then use the needle itself (shortened) to press again the hub shaft. The inflation needles are hollow, though, and I'm sure would break.
I thought about taking a .308 bullet and drilling the base for the center screw, but I suspect the lead would deform under pressure.
I thought about just grinding the center screw of the hub puller, but I don't know that I can grind it so the point is centered.
I'm trying to think of another something that would work as a tip for the center screw.
Any suggestions?
