Jezus hates your gunz...

Thou shalt not guns.

Quote
“The gun is almost an invitation to give into the temptation of fear,” he said. “And fear should not be a controlling element in the life of a Christian.”

Quote
Most major religious groups in the country favor stricter gun control laws, including black Protestants (76 percent), Catholics (67 percent) and white mainline Protestants (57 percent), according to a 2013 Public Religion Research Institute survey. But white evangelicals are the religious group least likely to support stricter laws (38 percent favor while 59 percent oppose them).

So I will just start buying swords.
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Only the dead have seen the end of war!

Being false prophets and false teachers seems to be popular these days...

To paraphrase Mr Heston, I'll give them up when Jesus tells me that I'll no longer need them.

"Evangelical activist".  lemme take a look at that.  What Warshington Post thinks is an evangelical, I may not.

I somehow SERIOUSLY doubt that!
I mainly got it because when people start spouting that crap like Sharpton et al I like to show that I am just as valid a minister as they are and that freaks them out and proves my point at the same time.

The Right Reverend Mercer

How much extra does it cost to become "The Right Reverend [____]" as opposed to just "The Reverend [____]"?

I've been ordained for more than 25 years, but I'm just a plain vanilla Reverend. According to the ULC web site, for $13.99 I can upgrade to Archbishop or even Cardinal. Wahoo!

I've never heard of the guy.  Not by itself a big deal.  But interestingly, I've never heard of almost all the organizations he's been involved in.  It's almost like he just popped into existence.

The organization that ordained him is not a church, but an "alliance of ministers", which makes me scratch my head.  And is nothing I'd ever heard of before.

Weird.

Luke 22:36

For the record, that passage doesn't really work as a justification for gun ownership in self defense, especially keeping in mind that Jesus later told Peter to basically put his sword away before someone got hurt.

There is a very good Christian case for self defense, of course: Mainly that the defense of innocent life is a good thing.

Jesus, was still there. The swords were for after he left.  ;)

No ,but it carries more weight with St. Peter when you tell him you want to talk to his supervisor.

This kind of reminds me of the ministers - concerned about Globular Warming - who were running around asking "What Would Jesus Drive" . . . with their preferred answer being something along the lines of a Prius.

They didn't like it when it was pointed out that He was a CARPENTER . . . with a dozen disciples. So several king size crew cab pickups - or maybe a large bus - was the thoughtful answer.

Actually, the question of WWJD has been answered in Scripture -- when He wasn't wearing out a pair of sandals, He drove a donkey.

A friend of my dads, both gone for years, had one of those correspondence course ministerial things framed on his wall. He claimed some kind of tax write off for the weekly service in his home that no one ever attended. Far as I know, he never had any IRS issues.
