I saw one of those a while ago in some IT trade rag. I wonder if the flash drive is replaceable because the knife will outlast it.

So is the USB Leatherman coming out next year? Smiley

You've never seen one of those before? They've been around for for quite some time, I'd like to say a couple of years, but I'm not exactly sure.

Why the eyeroll?  I know lots of folks who have a SAK and a thumbdrive on their keychains.  This gadget just combines the 2.

Shows where I'm at.  I have no idea what it is (except for the Swiss Army knife) or what to do with it. cheesy

Yup, old news.  Probably no less useful than any of the other specialized models, but I wouldn't buy one.  I barely use the flashdrive I have now.

Probably because thumbdrives aren't known for their durability and adding this and other electronics to their knives dilutes the brand IMO.  But, if you're a hardcore thumbdrive user, it might be useful.  Unless you work somewhere that completely bans knives of any kind...

Bingo.

Also, given how you might be using a knife, I'd say that the drive is in much greater danger of being damaged.

I use the two drives I have fairly reglarly, but less now than before.

A client of mine gave me one of those as a gift a couple of years ago.  He had seen them in a magazine and thought they were neat.  When he was in Europe visiting family he found one for sale and bought it for me.

I carry it on my key chain and it has come in handy many, many times.  The ballpoint pen never worked, but I think you can buy replacements.  The drive itself is only 64mb, but it works for most of what I've needed it for.  As a free gadget, I've been happy with it.

I should market a combination flash drive/coffee cup.

Or starwars action figures with a flash drive inside.

They beat you to it:

Although, granted, they're not actually "action" figures, just figures.

Nope. Sounds like I was beaten to the punch, though.

I want one!   grin  I look like such a dork with mine hanging around my neck.

I think the plastic housing for the knife would help keep the thumbdrive from getting so banged up.

But on the other hand, I'm so absent minded lately, I'd no doubt lose it at the airport.

It's like a floppy disk but it's smaller, solid-state, has a much larger capacity, and plugs into the USB port.  You'll commonly find them in sizes of a few hundred megabytes, and some are even in the gigabyte range.  For reference, that's a few hundred floppies in something the size of your thumb.
