The water filter in the basement, that is.
It's so old that it's all metal -- the head, the filter holder, and the nut that ties it all together. I remember it in the house from my youngest days. Some years ago the O ring seal crapped out and I made a gasket for it. That's now starting to crap out, it's hard as hell to get the new filter in and get the nut screwed on so it doesn't leak. Changing the filter is normally a half hour or more. And I still have to go back a couple of hours later and make sure that it hasn't decided to leak.
So, in December I'm yoking that one out of there and putting a new unit in. I'd like to find one with stainless steel reinforced threads because there is literally no place to support the filter where it is -- the only thing behind it is a stone foundation with old lime mortar. I tried searching on Lowes to see what units they carry. Supposedly they carry Whirpool units, but they're showing as unavailable (as is everything else, I'm hoping it's just black Friday issues).
I'd do it this weekend, but I'm heading back home tomorrow, and I don't feel like fighting the pipes down there. I'll have to rebuild the valves (or put new ones in) as they're starting to go, too.
If it's not one thing, it's another.
