New RNC chair says party must return to core beliefs

I like this sentiment

Hopefully this is sincere, and not just a politician being a politician...
If Martinez's statement matches the values and thinking of a large number of hispanic voters, I can see the political savvy of Republicans courting the hispanic vote.

What's needed is a party with sense enough to quit trying to lead and start representing the people.

It is an interesting phenomenon that virtually everyone agrees on what went wrong and what needs to be done.  It remains to be seen if they will actually do it or not.  Hastert leaving was a good thing.  But they need to do more than give lip service to the idea.

I'll believe it when I see it.  But I won't be holding my breath.

Hastert leaving was a good thing.  The return of Blount, Boehner, and Lott, however...not so good.

How can you tell when a politician is lying?

It's one thing to "return" to the core beliefs as a platform.  It's quite another to espouse them, and live them.

I'm not holding my breath either.

Hearing this come from Martinez somehow reminds me of Bill Clinton's apologies, I just plain out don't believe it.

Just to pick one issue Mel is at odds with the base on, immigration.
