If some non-LEO were doing that at the airport - say, in the men's room - I suspect losing his license to carry would be the least of his problems; I expect he'd face charges ranging from disturbing the peace through reckless endangerment to criminal negligence.

A friend of mine has a relative who is a detective in the Des Moines PD.  According to him, Quick-Draw McGraw is getting a 3-week unpaid suspension and all rookie officers will have to be re-certified on firearms.
