Senate debating gun control right now
« on: June 20, 2016, 04:02:37 PM »
http://www.c-span.org/video/?411372-1/us-senate-takes-gun-control-legislation&live= for c spans converage.

Senator Kelly Ayotte is doing a good job of defending the entire constitution, except she supports Sen. John Cornyn's bill, which she says is better because it's a SMALLER secret list, which in weeks or months, can be challenged in court.

Currently, Sen. Kelly Ayotte is calling people on a secret government list "terrorists."
She's wrong. They are possible suspects.

Senator Richard Blumenthal D-Connecticut is up. anti gun.

She is one of my senators.  ;/

The good news is that all of the bills will probably fail.

I sure hope so, but I'm betting that if Cornyn's fails now (because it's not tough enough for the grabbers) a modified bill, worse for us, will be introduced at a later date and will pass as a "compromise". Thanks in advance GOPe.

Senator Richard Blumenthal claims this bill would have stopped the Orlando shooter, this is false. The Orlando shooter passed numerous background checks, including the checks to be an armed security guard.

Feinstein says one Republican makes this bill bipartisan... It has 38 co-sponsors. Thankfully we have a bit more power in the House.

Senator Chuck Grassley is refuting statements made by other Senators. He has refuted too many statements, statistics, and facts to list but of special note is that numerous civil rights groups including the ACLU are against Feinstein's amendment. That guy is amazing. Very information dense without too much opinion or emotion.

I am live blogging on GOCRA's facebook page.

Patoomy thinks these votes will fail.

3 cloture votes (to end debate) on amendments have failed. They are now on the last one. It failed. Pro-gun wanted it to pass, but the anti-gun didn't give it to them.

All anti-gun amendments failed for now, they will be back Wednesday and Thursday. These are amendments to a spending bill.

C-span2 is showing an anti-gun press conference, and has other gun commentary.

Maybe they could sneak in that suppressor bill to remove them from the NFA. ........okay, just dreaming.

What?

We can't let due process intrude in our pursuit of preventing people from getting guns... er.... preventing terrorism!

...while Democrats in the Senate were accusing the GOP of conspiring with Salafi jihadists, the administration was still acting as if the Orlando massacre had nothing to do with ISIS — at all.

And as counterproductive and absurd as the Obama administration’s initial ham-fisted release of Omar Mateen’s 911 call transcript was, it did offer us an illustration of how it wishes Americans would talk about Islamic terrorism. Which is to say, it wishes you were talking about the NRA.

47-53 on some of those bills.  That's pretty damn narrow.
