Unless those things have some hidden weaponry they're...well, they're only going to be about as effective as regular mall security.

I guess they just have cameras so police can get good pictures and video.

I'm thinking more effective than mall-cops.  Fewer hiding to sneak naps on the job.

Daleks fly.

Haven't watched Dr. Who since Peter Davison played him.  Never saw flying Daleks.

I was thinking of that even as I posted "Stairs."

There's a more recent episode where they have some stairs between them and the Dr. or whoever they're chasing/threatening, and they made some usual Dalek self-important pronouncement about being even more superior and unstoppable than before, then hovered and flew down the stairs. It was a clear case of tongue in cheek fan-service to the issue.  =)

Flew -up- the stairs.

Can a ring modulator that's designed for an electric guitar effect be used with a microphone to make a Dalek voice?  Turn the distortion all the way off and adjust the carrier frequency until it sounds right (probably about 30 to 40 Hz)

Daleks were first alleged to have the ability to fly in season 2, episode 8, The Chase. That was in 1966, with William Hartnell as The Doctor.

The first time they're actually seen flying, or hovering, was in Revelation of the Daleks in 1985.

Since the reboot of Dr. Who with Christopher Eccleston ( [barf]) as the 9th Doctor, there have been quite a few instances where Daleks have taken flight, including my favorite episode, The Big Bang.
