A tragedy in Marin County, CA
« on: September 14, 2016, 08:07:37 PM »
Marin County recently held a gun "buy-back."  I will ignore the fallacy of that label.

The slideshow features some of gorgeous pieces that will, undoubtedly, be destroyed.   *sigh*

I wonder if the suppressors for the H&K are registered with the Feds.

The page doesn't load for me.  I assume any really nice pieces will be stolen by the police and end up in some chief's private collection.  They will also make no attempt to see if any guns are hot and try to return those to the rightful owners.

I would bet most of those items were stolen. Gun buy backs = fence for stolen guns.

Like one caption said that the officer was checking the serial number on a handgun when it is clearly visible in the picture on the opposite side of where the officer was checking.
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

He was looking for it. Serial numbers are in small numerals, so they're not easy to find ...

I wonder if the suppressors for the H&K are registered with the Feds.

The suppressors look like oversized 80's junk. Anything more modern would be way slimmer, either with stacked K-baffles or a zig-zag monocore.   There could be markings/SN's turned down to the underside in the photo, but I do see some markings on the suppressor to the left.

The HK MP5-K interests me more. You can get the "Navy" trigger group outer shell and the markings and still have it be semi-auto underneath, however...

The paddle mag release is interesting. It could be one of the more recent clones, but it's not a chopped HK94 or a rebuilt SP89, or there'd be a button mag release. As is the tri-lug suppressor mount on the barrel pointing to it being the real deal. The Choate folder can be bought retail, but it's definitely "HK Correct" for a Factory MP5-K too. The zip-tie covers up the magwell, but it sure looks like it's a real HK/Sterling VA marking there.

It could be a well done job by Vector etc. but it sure looks factory.
I promise not to duck.

Quote
Bill Donahue, of Petaluma, waited in a line outside the Novato police station to sell a .22 hunting rifle, a gun he has owned since he was a kid.

With a 15-year-old grandson, the 77-year-old said he thought it best to get rid of the firearm.

ā€œIā€™d rather turn it in than leave it to a grandson who could hurt himself,ā€ he said.

Gramps made it this far without killing himself but his grandson can't be trusted with the gun?  Does that mean grandson is an idiot or is he admitting the family did a poor job of raising the kid?   ;/

If grandson is living under grandpa's roof... Unless his Nobel Prize winning parents were killed in a freak accident in the Amazon Rainforest looking for new plants/bugs/chemicals for a cure for cancer, that's probably a safe bet.

I feel the need to have my own gun buyback once funds permit. Selective choosing, $300 tops. Bring in something nice please, err, I mean some deadly-shoot-em-up-cop-killing-extradoinaires.

Assault rifles would be great, but please let them be complete.
Also, the Lord knows we need to keep the fancy pistols off the street.
$250 from the man? My 300 won't be beat.
Leave in bulk,
And I won't sulk.
Jennings or Ravens I won't pull a Poe.
I'll take them off the street, and shoot them as I go.
