Hotels don't wash their bedding between guests

* Undercover report found three Manhattan hotels hadn't washed sheets
* Guests wrote a message in invisible paint on the linen, then checked out
* The paint can only be seen in UV light and can be easily washed off
* Another then returned to the same room later to see if note was still there

Inside Edition stayed in nine upmarket hotels in New York and allegedly found three hadn't changed or washed their bedding before new customers arrived.

At a Marriott Residence Inn in Manhattan, they sprayed a message using invisible paint, that easily comes off in the laundry, on the bottom sheet of the bed.

The words which can only be seen under a UV light read: 'I slept here.'...

The production team checked out, leaving the bed looking as though it was slept in.

Later on they checked into the same room under a different name, and found the message was still on the bottom sheet.

'This is absolutely disgusting,' said Inside Edition's Ann Mercogliano.

They allegedly found the same thing happened at the The Candlewood Inn & Suites in Times Square and La Quinta Inn & Suites near Central Park...

It is crap like this that makes my wife prefer camping out along the way to grabbing a hotel room.  "Sleeping in the dirt is preferable to sleeping on other people's filth."

Used to have a few water soluble UV marking pens to do similar in bathrooms and break rooms.  Testing showed that just spraying plain water and wiping once with a paper towel after 48 hours of cure time still removed almost all trace of the markings on a hard surface, but we were writing dates in places like the bottom of toilet seats, back edge of countertops, door handle plates (where normal use of the handle wouldn't smudge it) and refrigerator doors and finding them still legible a week or more later, even though cleaning crews were supposed to be cleaning and sanitizing those surfaces daily.

When we travel to Fl for the winter, Swmbo is going to request that the hotel provide us with clean sheets so we can actually remake the beds.  Wonder what will happen?

They'll usually give you fresh sheets if you bring the others to them. My wife and I have asked for clean sheets before and the staff happily obliged us.

I think I have heard of people that pack their own sheets and towels.

I used to carry a lightweight silk sleeping bag because of some of the sketchy hotels we stayed in.

And they folded your old ones and put them on top of the stack.

I new someone who was a frequent business traveler. His pet peeve was crappy showers.
He carried his own head and channel locks.
I needed a mod to change my signature because the concept of "family friendly" eludes me.
Just noticed that a mod changed my signature. How long ago was that?

Well, after our fun, I hope they at least dried them out.
