Where do these words come from? 


Here's a new slang term I like.  "Womp."  As in, "Getting shot in the behind really womps."  Or, "You're going to see Los Lonely Boys?  They are so lame, they totally womp."  As far as I know it comes from the cartoon show, "Recess," and is a cleaner way to say that something "sucks."

In my day you could get womped or womped onm, kind of interchangeable with and equivalent to stomped I guess. I don't like the new interpretation, it womps.  grin

The Mario franchise, by Nintendo and HAL. Whomps are large stone blocks with faces (what _doesn't_ have a face on it in Mario? If it can kill you, it's got a face.) that either drop periodically, or when you get close to them in an attempt to squish you.

I've been using 'feh' and 'meh' for at least a decade.

It's the typed equivalent of a dismissive mouth noise.

Well "Feh" is most certainly Yiddish.  Apparently "meh" was popularized by The Simpsons

It's close enough to the Yiddish "feh" to probably be a spinoff of that word.  Though "feh" has more of a "yuk" sense to it.

Womp or Whomp is just a combination of whoop ("I'm gonna whoop yer ass.") and stomp ("I'm gonna stomp yer ass.")  Frequently used when you don't know if your going to be whooping or stomping.  If something is "whomped," it's in pretty bad shape.
