Career aptitude test
« on: May 15, 2017, 08:14:43 PM »
Anybody know of any decent ones?  I know someone who is looking for one and keeps running into sites he describes as shady at best.  I would appreciate any (well, not "ANY"... I know this crew) some good recommendations, if possible.'

Really, asking for a friend.

I remember taking one in high school, at the same time we took the ASVAB. The aptitude test said I would do well in science, law or healthcare.  And oddly enough, I ended up working in all three.

When I did this later as part of Executive Leadership Development, they had us take the MAPP, the Strong Interest Inventory and the MBTI tests.  I think all of those are supposed to be reputable.

Thanks, MillCreek.  He's looking for a "low cost" test that he can take online.  I found a link for him on the MAPP test.  Looks to me like it might be what he's looking for.

The ASVAB is free.... ;)
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

You can ask for the complete report, as they do break it down into various areas  http://www.goarmy.com/learn/understanding-the-asvab.html

It will at least give them some idea of what they are "good at"..

The ASVAB can't mean much if a slack-jawed neanderthal like me can get the 99th percentile.  So I made the smart move and chose the infantry.  [ar15]

Getting "them" to report on site and in person to take the test would be a feat in itself.  He's not anti-military,  but he is not the best at dealing with others' authority.

Oh, he's smart.  It's just that problem with authority issue.  Give him a task and let him go at it, good.  Give him a task and direct his actions, no good.
