He went to Cabo twice.

We used to go to Acapulco in the '70's.  I wouldn't go to Mexico if it was a free trip with 10 grand in spending money.

My wife's cousin (native to her country in South America) is a professor at some university in Mexico City. A couple of years ago he sold his condominium and moved to a different one because his old one (which was in an up-scale neighborhood) wasn't safe any more. Before my wife died, he told us it was "relatively" safe for her to visit, because she's (was) a Latina and her Spanish shows it,  but that under NO circumstances was I to even think about going to Mexico.

Not that I would have considered it anyway, but it was good (??) to have confirmation.

I have a fb friend that lives in Cozumel. She says its fake news. Nothing out of the unusual on that side.
I needed a mod to change my signature because the concept of "family friendly" eludes me.
Just noticed that a mod changed my signature. How long ago was that?

The Cancun and Cozumel area have seen an increase in violent crime, but the area is still pretty safe compared to other parts of Mexico.  Most of the drug-related crime is kept out of the tourist areas to keep the tourist dollars flowing.

I've been saying for years that anyone who actually goes to Mexico willingly is an idiot.
I can't argue with that - and I remember when the social club at my employer used to organize weekend bus trips for shopping & sightseeing to Nuevo Laredo. (They quit doing that years ago.)

And it's not just Mexico - I'm glad I made my safari to Zimbabwe before Mugabe went completely off the rails. I wouldn't even want to transfer at the Harare airport today.

Hmm.  My wife and I are taking a cruise Christmas week from LA to Mexico through Costco Travel.  I cannot recall the exact itinerary, but I hope that Costco sticks to the typical tourist cruise destinations.

Dammit, he beat me to it.  Oh well, I call dibs on any of Millcreek's stuff that RocketMan doesn't want, when Millcreek fails to return from Mexico.

You would think as the APS Risk Manger he would examine the stories of 100,000 gallons of poisoned alcohol, along with the rapes, murders, rapes, etc. that he would wave off and go to somewhere less deathy and rapey.

But hey, new-to-me stuff, is new-to-me stuff....

The Risk Manger has a wife. I have a feeling that when wife wants a tropical cruise, the Risk Manger must weigh the risk of offending wife against potential deathy and rapey vacation locations... and offending wife is the higher risk.

Lots of other less deathy and rapey places to take a cruise and go shopping.

Last time I looked, Cabo was still on the Baja peninsula.

Yes.  And I was just in Cancun this spring.  Cancun is on the Eest coast of Mexcio, on the Yucutan Peninsula. Cabo is at the tip of the Baja, on the West side of Mexico.
I've been both places.
