"so I ended up getting the above because I didn't want to make a whole production of sticking something between my knees and cranking. To me, the cranking on mine is pretty effortless, at least on the coarse setting. Maybe if someone has arthritis or something, it would be more difficult for them." - Ben

Thomas withdrew from the band in 1999, citing ill health. In 2014 he confirmed he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

In a statement four years ago, he said: 'My cancer was inoperable but I have a fantastic doctor who immediately started me on a new treatment that has had 90% success rate.

I'd be interested to know what that is.

Quote
'The cancer is being held in remission but I'll be receiving this treatment for the rest of my life.

Cancer being held in abeyance (until it isn't) by hormone therapy (which is what this sounds like) does not in my mind count as "90% success rate".

Quote
'I have four close friends who have all endured some kind of surgery or treatment for this cancer and all are doing well.

Many different ways it can go.

RIP Mr. Thomas.
I haven't listened to the Moody Blues in ages, but I like their stuff.  There's an album or two of theirs around here someplace.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

I have an original copy of Days of Future Past .

I need to get my turntable hooked up again...
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

The man was 76, he had long ago quit playing music, and you didn't know him.  So, I'm curious, why his death affects you so much.

Really? I say two words, as opposed to the more effusive utterances of others here, and you somehow think Mr. Thomas is my personal guru?

Mr. Thomas made music that was a large part of the soundtrack to my teen and college years. I have very fond memories of events that occurred while Moody Blues music was playing. That's what he is to me, part and parcel to my memories.

If someone told me that you had passed away I'd likely say exactly the same thing, even though realistically it would mean far less to me, and be far more abstract.
