PUBG!
« on: December 13, 2017, 12:59:38 PM »
Player Unknown's Battlegrounds just got released on console (Xbox and Ps) yesterday.  Got a couple good hours of play time under my belt, including in a squad.  Hit 7th solo, and hit 2nd twice in our squad.
First impressions:
Pretty buggy.  It's pretty much a beta release from what I can tell.
Entertaining as a solo player, but the real gem is playing in a 4 person squad.
Menus are a little tough to figure out, there's no tutorial.  Google ends up being your friend until you figure it out.
Gunfights get intense, especially in a squad on squad situation.
What really makes this game stand out is that unlike a lot of fps or shooter type games, players don't "stand out".  For instance, someone in the shadow of a tree a long ways a way isn't obvious unless they're backlit by the sun etc.  You can easily take fire and have no idea where it's coming from besides the sound.
Headphones are a must to play this game well.
So far, I like it a ton.

It's a super fun and intense hardcore shooter.  Loot and scoot suddenly turns into direct contact.  Squads are the most fun.

Reports of rampant cheating has steered me away from it on PC. Could be it's not such a big issue on consoles.
