Coming soon: the Tesla flamethrower for civilians

Well, not under the Tesla brand, but made by the same guy. Although major bummer in that it is apparently a propane weed-killer torch in an airsoft shell.  So I doubt you can reach out and roast something 50 feet away.

Cheap fire extinguisher, empty contents, 2/3 full of diesel, recharge with shop air and rubber blow nozzle. Roast things 50 feet away. Don't leave sitting around like a fire extinguisher.

No, and it works just fine. Fun for lighting brush piles if the neighbors are watching.

When I was a youngster, some kids I barely knew and whose names I've long forgotten found that a flamethrower could be constructed with a compressor and a modified paint sprayer - and rather than use some mix of diesel fuel, gasoline with a little Fels naphtha soap mixed in worked well.

As for making a flamethrower out of a fire extinguisher and accidentally using it on a fire . . . isn't that sort of a metaphor for how Democrats want to fix the economy . . . or crime . . . or immigration . . . or any of a number of other issues?
Trump won in 2016. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

Except their misuse would be deliberate.  Over the years, my suspicion that they are deliberately trying to cause hate and discontent in this country in order to foster collapse has become more and more realistic-sounding.  But of course, that's just tin foil hattery.

Flamethrowers for zombies is stupid anyway. Fire takes too long to put them down. All you get when you use a flamethrower on a zombie is a flaming zombie.

Then you get a repeat of that experiment during WWII when they tried to turn bats into incendiary devices. Spoiler: it backfired.

Alls I know about flammenwerfers is that in Avalon Hill's Squad Leader game if there is one in a hex that is being fired upon, the attacking player gets to deduct two from his die roll (lower is better in that game) and I once had a whole stack of 8-3-8 engineers go all Mcfwoosh when my opponent rolled a three (on two dice) which meant it was a one and that's a KIA regardless that I was in a stone building which gave me +3 for a total die roll of four.

When I first heard about this I thought it was just a hoax. lol This is pretty awesome. I'm reminded a bit of the Cave Johnson character from Portal 2. It's about time we start getting something close to a mad scientist.

It's been many a year since I played Squad Leader.  We also use to enjoy Panzer Blitz, Panzer Leader, and The Russian Campaign.

False advertising. It's not a proper flame thrower if it doesn't throw high pressure incinerated liquid fuel at a range of at least 30m. That looks more like a propane blow torch.

Strangely, this whole thing reminds me of a few Valve games. Hmmm

Hey, it worked great.  It just didn't burn down the correct target.  Dropped in enemy territory, that wouldn't be an issue.

I agree, but Ol Musky has already sold 10,000 units according to reports.  Someone is buying the hype.

Of course, someone has to spoil the party:  http://www.sfgate.com/business/article/Musk-s-flamethrower-incredibly-insensitive-in-12537963.php

Quote
In an email to The Washington Post, Assemblyman Miguel Santiago, a Democrat from Los Angeles, said he thought the flamethrower idea was a joke when he first heard about it.
...
"This subject matter, in the wake of the state's deadliest wildfires in history, is incredibly insensitive, dangerous, and most definitely not funny,"

Wrong.  It's hilarious.

Then again, this "flamethower" may not be that much:

Quote
The California Health and Safety Codes 12750 to 12761 ban owning or selling a flamethrower without a permit granted by a state fire marshal. But there's a catch, because the regulation bans unlicensed possession of "any non-stationary and transportable device designed or intended to emit or propel a burning stream of combustible or flammable liquid a distance of at least 10 feet."

If the demonstrations on social media are any indication, Musk's flamethrower doesn't emit a stream of flammable liquid, and its flame falls well short of the 10-foot ban.
