Snopes, Social Security, Guns, and Trump

While the law did not change who is required to be the subject of background checks, it is true that Trump signed into law the repeal of a measure that would have plausibly prevented certain classes of mentally ill people from purchasing firearms by allowing a new data source to be included the system that runs those background checks. As such we rank the claim mostly true.

Seems like an easy "mostly false" to me, but I guess they can phrase the claim any way they want.

As an example, when my father was alive I was representative payee for both my parents (Mom was having trouble with math and Dad was legally blind, not completely blind) because I paid their bills and balanced their checkbook.

Obama says Representative Payee = No guns for you.   

So without any due process, nor finding of fact, my father was denied his 2A rights simply because his eyesight wasn't good enough to drive or see tiny numbers on a bank statement.  (Without a heavy duty magnifying glass.)

So Snopes, once again, is mostly BS.

My dad has neither, and he only has an email address because I made one for him for certain services that want one, and just check it myself occasionally.

An elderly person not knowing their way around Apple Pay or whatever is getting to be reason enough to declare them incompetent.
