Snow!
« on: January 21, 2007, 10:08:05 AM »
Snowing like hell here in the Old Dominion....(Virginia, specifically northern VA)
Wife and I just got back from Michigan, we had some training for our home business...2 out of three days we got less than 4 hours sleep each night....I'm kinda glad its snowing, its discouraging me from doing anything overly ambitious....

Snowed here in the Wabash Valley, but the freezing rain has melted most of it away.  Yay, freezing rain.

Ahhh, snow, freezing rain, hail, tornados, thunderstorms, unbearably humidity in the summer, sometimes all conditions at once, what's not to like here? grin

Snowing here in the Rockies of Colorado too. The fourth week in a row for a pretty big storm. The first three storms dropped 3ft, 3ft and 2ft. This one looks to have added about 6-8 inches of new snow, but it is still coming down.

edit to add: Looks like it stopped at about 9-10 inches. It is really hard to get firewood out of the outdoor woodshed when the doors are now at ankle level.

Upper monkeycounty MD is screwed up big time

355 between Gaithersburg & Germantown is real slow/stopped

no one knows how to drive

we have 3/4 of an inch but the road bed is 24 degrees

i took backroads and constantly found people spun into curbs
and stopped in their minivans going up small hills

my grand cherokee runs great,

Oh COSTCO was out of milk

We got about 2.5 inches of snow here today. Everything's all nice and pretty like it should be in winter. Smiley

You brought this crap with you!  Go Away Now! Wink

The roads in my area are bad too.  I had to go to the store for milk, but that was because we were honestly out and need it.  I'm within walking distance of the store.  If things get so bad I can't drive, I'll just walk to it.

I was supposed to go to WV for a disaster recovery exercise.  Now I have to perform my role from home tomorrow because they've decided to operate the exercise with the folks that are there now and not have anyone else drive up (we started the process yesterday).  I'd rather be in the same building as my gear during something as high profile as this, but at least this way, we can further prove our DR preparedness. Sterling Heights, a Detroit suburb.
No, its not Amway.  I don't know enough about amway to say much about it, except the only people I ever knew who did it didn't make any money.

We just got back from Petco.....a few people sliding and spinning, but mostly sensible driving.  A few people going slower than necessary, but I guess that's better than flying like a batoutahell, which they probably thought I was.
We're suppossed to go to South-Western Virginia tomorrow to pick up a dog, but if its still comin' down that's likely not going to happen.
I was hoping to go mountain biking this week, I guess I'll just hafta hope for it to melt off so I can road ride.....

Do not make that trip until this clears up.  My BIL's fiance just took 7hrs to drive from Roanoke to Tyson's Corner.  That's normally a 4hr drive.  She gave up at Tyson's and is grabbing a hotel room (she lives in B-more).

If the ground remains frozen, we'll probably still ride this week.  Send me a PM Monday afternoon.

True, but check the road conditions first.  I81 is dangerous as heck when the conditions are anything but good.  Truckers, idiots, and mountains make for some white knuckle driving at times.

Dry sausage and homemade sauerkraut.

That Lentil and Sausage soup that I made yesterday was quite killer, too. I was going to bring some along for you.

And it wasn't really fear of my life.

This was the President's Day Weekend blizzard, 2003.

It snowed for over 30 hours.

A little picture I took about hour 26 or so... The accumulating snow had pretty much stopped by that point.

We went to Massanutten that weekend with my parents.  Getting down I81 was a lot of fun that day.

GW planned this blizzard of epic proportions because he hates black people and loves global warming. grin

No, they're blaming me.  I just moved to NoVA this month from Utah.  When we got here it was 60ish....just beautiful....but in Utah it was cold and snowy.....I think it might have followed me....
