RIP.  I was a kid, but I liked the Bandit movies as well as the Cannonball Run movies.

In later years, he regretted doing that Cosmopolitan photo shoot just as he felt he was being taken seriously as an actor for his role in Deliverance.

I was a big Bandit and Cannonball Run fan, too.

RIP, Mr. Reynolds.

(Of course, his greatest work was on Celebrity Jeopardy.)
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Well dang. He certainly walked his own road and seemed to have a helluva lot of fun doing it. RIP.

Everyone always remembers Cannonball Run and Smokey and the Bandit. I have to add Hooper.

Stand on it Stroker!
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

That one actually saddens me.  I never saw a movie of his that I didn't enjoy.

Rest in peace and live in our memories, Burt Reynolds.

Burt was my hero.   Sally Fields, Loni Anderson, and Farah Fawcett.  It needs to be bronzed and put in temple somewhere to be worshiped.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Google the lyrics or video of his hilarious country western song

Just remembered City Heat. It's silly and and mindless, but still a lot of fun. The battle between Burt and Clint's characters over who has the biggest gun always makes me laugh.

Went on Amazon to order a DVD of that.  They had a collection box set for $10.00 but it was out of stock.   I ordered one,  and now the big wait begins .....

Aaah the Mayor, RIP. =(

For the younger crowd:

“Fear of death increases in exact proportion to increase in wealth,” Hemingway once said. Today, many of us have become rich in the currency of cowardice. We have so many things and so few experiences. We are desperate to live as long as possible, not as large as possible. We are so afraid to say goodbye to the world that we never say hello.
-Marty Beckerman (from a Wired article of all things)
