Bluetooth Headphones/Earbuds - Sport?
« on: September 10, 2018, 04:14:57 PM »
For those of you who wear them exercising, etc., what kind of bluetooth headsets or earbuds do you like? I have a pair of these (which they don't make anymore):

https://www.amazon.com/Motorola-S10-HD-Bluetooth-Stereo-Headphones/dp/B004QWOSLK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1536610331&sr=8-2&keywords=motorola+s10-hd

I didn't wear them very long because they always ended up making my ears sore after prolonged wear and bothered my neck as well. I ended up going back to a very lightweight Sony wired headset which has awesome sound. Because of some activity changes, I'm back to wanting to cut the cord and get it out of my way. Sound is not super important. Well, important, but I don't need Bose quality. Decent sound is tertiary to my number 1&2 criteria: Comfort and staying in my ears during activity.

I'm thinking about these "earbuds on a headset" by Mpow:

Any other suggestions?

I am still getting satisfaction from the Sol Republic Amps Air Bluetooth ear buds I bought last year.  Zero complaints.

Beats Powerbeats3.
Battery lasts a long time, comfortable, hold during exercise, and have great sound.
Downside is price.  But you get what you pay for.  I bought cheaper ones at walmart and killed them within a month.

Thanks guys - I will check your recommendations out. One thing I did see while researching the cheaper ones is that a lot of the supposedly water resistant rated ones died an early death because of sweat, even if the specifically said they were IPX-5 or 6. Since these will be almost exclusively used for exercise, that part is important.

Big fan of these.  I have a corded pair, because I use an old iPod for music.  Both sons have Bluetooth versions.  They work by bone conductivity, leaving your ears uncovered, so you hear the world around you while listening to music.  I really like this as I run in my neighborhood, so hearing traffic, kids, dogs, etc. is a really good thing.

Hey Chris - those look really interesting. I do like to hear things around me and often pull out one bud when I think I might be hearing something (like my cousin about to run me over on his tractor), or else keep one bud barely in an ear or the music really low.

How well do you find those holding in place? Do you use them for other exercise besides running? I'm wondering how well they would stay in place for something like punching the heavy bag.

I got a pair of the plantronics at Costco about a year ago. Comfortable, great sound and they stay in place. The storage pouch has a built in recharger.

I have been using them for running all summer, with no problems with the fit.  They stay in place, despite all 285 lbs of me bouncing up and down for 2-3 miles, and sweating like a pig.  Since they don't have to sit on or in your ear, and shifting doesn't affect your ability to hear.  And, since they go over your ears, there's no concern about them falling off.  And, in case you wondered, I've worn them with glasses.  They work best with thinner, straight temples.  I'm very happy with them.
