Racism, of course.

'Cause carbon black is cheaper than titanium dioxide as a filler?

What, no blue ones to create the patriotic motif?

I thought they were originally black so they would match all those Model Ts.

But seriously, everyone knows it's just a dog whistle,  to indicate that black people (of color) must be kept down.

I visited a chemical plant site that had carbon black production on site.  Pretty much everything had a coating of it that you didn't notice until it came off on your hand.  Interesting to note the early versions were worse.

The earliest model T’s had white tires. I had a late model T (1927 touring car) but the early museum quality cars that trailered to the rallys and I saw exhibited at international tours wore white treads.

If you drink milk while driving a car with black tyres you are a double racist.

To keep a brother down...
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

If you drink chocolate milk while driving a car with white tires what does that indicate?

There is a fork lift where I work that has all white tires.
