Aquaman?
« on: December 28, 2018, 03:32:19 AM »
Aquaman supposedly opened on 21 December. Has anyone seen it? Does anyone plan to see it?

Don't know why, because I don't usually go to movies and I'm not a fan of Jason Mamoa, but I find myself curious about this one.

I'll probably wait and catch it when it hits Amazon.
Plenty of over the top CGI effects and there might even be some OK acting from what I've seen of the trailers.
So far DC hasn't mustered up to Marvel's offerings but I'll still watch it.
I did get a snicker when I saw Aquaman described as "wet Thor".
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Never really got into the superhero thing.  I do remember watching "Justice League", or somesuch, on Saturday mornings and thinking that Aquaman was the lamest superhero ever.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

It's one I'm waiting for to hit streaming. If Dad still did movie theaters, it would be one we'd go see.

I kept seeing a lot of bashing, but Dad says the reviews are positive. Batman Vs. Superman wasn't great but Wonder Woman was pretty kick ass. If DC pulls off Aquaman, they might be able to rival Marvel's Avengers (especially after Infinity War)

Overall, I've been pretty impressed by DC's live action stuff in the past few years. The fact that the CW managed to turn Green Arrow into a bad ass was pretty impressive, and when Aquaman first showed up in Batman vs. Superman they did a good job of un-dorkifying him.

I heard some rumor it had a lot of SJW content.  Is that right?

SPOILER ALERT

Underwater bad guy hates above water people because we dump trash in ocean and eat all the fishes and above water people must die. Pretext for starting war with surface over how we treat their home.  A little environmental SJWisim going on but it's a small part of the movie.
