Participation trophies for all

But no more valedictorian or salutatorian for one high school.

Quote
“We are moving to a recognition system eliminating valedictorian and salutatorian honors, and shifting to recognizing students who have achieved outstanding academic success through a multitude of pathways. The recognition system will reward our students for genuine academic success based on their academic accomplishments. This will help reduce the overall competitive culture at MHS to allow students to focus on exploring learning opportunities that are of interest to them,” said Mason High School Principal Bobby Dodd.

Time out! When I went to high school the valedictorian was the student with the highest average, and the salutatorian was the student with the second-highest average. How is that not "reward[ing] our students for genuine academic success based on their academic accomplishments"? So this school wants to reward academic success by encouraging students to not focus on achieving academic success. I don't see any way that can work.

Remember reading about some schools starting this years ago.

Bye bye anything to do with needed life skills. But to be fair I don't most schools have been teaching life skills for a while now.

Of course it will work. All students who graduate will be given the exact same GPA. That's only fair.

And, of course, we can't make anyone feel bad because they won't be graduating, so all students, regardless of their academic performance, will be graduating. And given a 4.0 GPA.

FAIR!

Probably the folks with the highest GPA every year were white or Asian.  Making it racist.
