He is certainly not he a good guy.  We will see if what comes of it. 

Ajay Dhingra, 43, of Houston, came on the radar of the U.S. Secret Service in August after he sent an email to the George W. Bush Foundation asking the former president to “send one of your boys to come and murder me,” according to court records.

Prosecutors allege that Dhingra had previously been involuntarily committed to a psychiatric facility and was prohibited from owning firearms. When Secret Service agents showed up at his house, Dhingra told them he had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, court documents said.

Dhingra was indicted on charges that include possessing a machine gun and making false statements to acquire a firearm.

Yeah, I hate when it's knuckleheads like this that get popped. While I obviously wouldn't want "Average Joe" to get popped for a "bump stuck machine gun" and have to go through the legal wringer, it would be a much better example of how dumb the law is.  This case is sorta like drug busts, where they report, "He had three bajillion pounds of coke and OMG - AN ARSENAL OF TWO RIFLES, A PISTOL, AND 140 ROUNDS OF AMMO!!!"

I also wonder how many people that might still possess a bump stock don't know they are now illegal. There are plenty of people that just don't pay attention to news anymore, and sometimes I can't blame them with the 24/7 overload of news that is often 70% opinion. Not to mention that there are too many laws on the books for anyone not to be a criminal. As I am wont to say, we are all felons, but most of us just don't know it.

I sincerely doubt more than a small % of these folks destroyed theirs.

I knew a building inspector who once tried to cite a guy who had filled in an old swimming pool for not having taken out a demolition permit for the job of dumping dirt in what was essentially a hole in the ground.
