An early taste of winter has brought snow and freezing temperatures to many parts of Idaho. And that's left many trying to find enough hours in the day to harvest their crops. On Wednesday, a farmer near the small community of Hamer (about 32 miles north of Idaho Falls) had potatoes still in the ground and the hard freeze coming.
Snow was falling at a good clip.
Word spread of the farmer's predicament, and soon farmers and others in the area grabbed their equipment and headed to the property to help.
I recently saw an article in which the author claimed that poor people in rural America aren't interested in helping their neighbors. The impression I got was that
doing something helpful and constructive -- like firing up your tractor and going over to help dig the neighbor's potato crop -- isn't considered "help" by the liberal overlords. "Help" means sending money to the .gov, so they can waste it on whatever they want. I don't know what a liberal would call helping your neighbor harvest his crop, but apparently it isn't "help."
