How low is too low?
« on: November 05, 2019, 04:36:14 PM »
How about fielding a team of not disabled players in order to win the paralympics?

Yeah, it happened. Spain did it in 2000. I'm somewhat surprised that I hadn't heard of this before today.

Nowadays they all they have to do is identify as disabled

Wasn't there a Jackass-guy movie about this?  "The Ringer"  Maybe that's where he got the idea.

Well there was a Married With Children episode where Al Bundy identified as a Senior Citizen and cleaned every event in the Senior Citizen Tournament.

His lesson to the world at the end of the clip was, "It's only cheating... if you get caught."

No internal code of ethics involved.   Right and wrong depends on some external monitoring entity catching and punishing you.

The best one was a South Park episode some years ago where Eric Cartman scammed his way into the Special Oympics because he thought that he'd clean up, but ended up getting his ass completely kicked by the developmentally disabled athletes. IIRC it also pulled in some very pointed commentary about cheating in general by roasting Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosa, and Barry Bonds.

Hey, today it's up to YOU who you identify as - that's the liberal mantra, isn't it? Since we have trannies "identifying" as women and dominating "women's" sports, Al Bundy was just ahead of his time by identifying as a senior citizen.

His lesson to the world at the end of the clip was, "It's only cheating... if you get caught."
Kind of like saying it's only illegal . . . if you get caught. (Note that right and wrong are not identical with legal and illegal.)

I was at a Special Olympics back in the late 80s, thereabouts.  I remember the swimming event only had one guy, someone with Down's Syndrome, in it.  They had some regular athlete for him to swim against.  The Down's guy was really muscular, and a very strong swimmer.

That's like reading a mystery novel and finally discovering the last page is torn out.  Well, all the clues were there, right?
