The stampede is over

My grandson just called from the local superstore.  They have toilet paper.  That is all.

Here in sunny Windsor, CT, both major stores are still sold out.  SWMBO and I are down to 12 rolls in reserve, not counting my emergency stash of MRE "John Wayne" paper.

Our standard shopping run on Saturday was otherwise unaffected, though we did note the distinct run on pasta, sauce, cereal, canned soup, and bottled water.  People suck.  Never in my 43 years on this Earth have I seen anything like it.  However, most importantly, booze is still plentiful.

It’s just beginning here. Grocery stores are getting cleaned out pretty good, especially now that schools are closed till April.

I have to think, with so many businesses and institutions closed, a bunch of the toilet paper supply is going to be coming from the supply closet at work, or church, or whatever people have access to.

Or China. I was doing my curiosity browsing on amazon, and while US brand TP is sold out, there's a bunch on there with Chinese writing. Same with sanitizer.

The stampede I fear has only just begun, wait till the inner city starts running out of stuff. Say about Tues or so.

It's looking like I will be going back to work on light duty probably next week, Considering changing out my usual car gun (J-frame) to something with more punch, 1911 and a couple of extra mags.

Yeah. My prediction is that if an inner city, or near inner city grocery store for whatever reason misses a restock and they go a day and a half or so without stocked shelves, things will get sporty there.

Remember when the food stamp system went down for a couple of hours?

I thought that was because it was allowing unlimited purchases, not the other way around.

When the system went down many people started panicking and trashing stores so they reacted by allowing unlimited purchases with a FS card to appease the masses. It was starting to get ugly after only an hour or two.

Naw, it's just evolving.   Co worker called and said he was going to be late, his girlfriend had him out looking for milk and eggs.  At my 2nd job we are having trouble getting ammo for the range.

That reminds me, I  need to get gas before they stampede the stations.

Yes to both the fact that things seem to actually be ramping up, and I'm surprised there hasn't been a big run on gas yet. That's gotta be the next thing. I already filled all my shop containers (but still need to get another 5 gallon can) and have been filling the vehicle tanks at between 1/2 and 2/3 for the last few weeks since I anticipated a gas rush would have already happened.

Same here.  Topped off the storage cans (~60 gal) a few weeks ago and have been filling up at 1/2 tank, all in anticipation of a gas run that hasn't happened yet.
