Android rant #3467 --

I have just installed for testing four (34) different document scanner apps on a Samsung tablet. Out of the four apps, two were so obtuse that I couldn't figure out how to make a scan. I did get scans out of the other two. Where are those scans now? Only the Great Google knows -- I sure as [bleep] don't have any idea.

I currently have the tablet connected to my PC with the umbilical cord to make it easier to look through the directories. As far as I can see -- those two scans don't exist.

WTF? Is it so hard to just put an icon there that says "Save," and then asks you where you want it?

Thanks, but I don't use Google Drive, and the Adobe Scan app only saves to the Adobe cloud.

I've used camscanner for years, but the free version will give you a watermark.

It's pretty intuitive.

Microsoft Lens is one of the four I tried. It's the only one I kept, but it still doesn't work. I get a decent scan out of it. On the Samsung tablet, when I try to save it doesn't give me the option to save as a PDF. On a cell phone, it offers me the option to save as a PDF, and it's supposed to save the PDF to my OneDrive account. But ... after I save, the file isn't in my OneDrive account.

I'm waiting for my Windows tablet to charge so I can try Lens on that, and hope to get a different result. (Yeah, I know ...)

When I save the PDF, it tells me it will be sent to my OneDrive. But when I open File Manager and look in my OneDrive ... it's not there.

Almost every program or app in the known universe now offers some way to save output to PDF. On my desktop computer, Microsoft Office (2016) alone includes two ways of doing it. Libre Office can do it. SoftMaker Office can do it. (Although Windows Paint doesn't.)

Only on rowboats, and some sailboat designs. Never thought of wallpapering a boat, I have to admit. For interior walls, I tend to prefer paint.
