Preparing for the birth of my son
« on: March 10, 2007, 11:37:17 AM »
As a few of you may remember I talked of the upcoming birth of my son who will be very sick....
http://www.armedpolitesociety.com/index.php?topic=6124

My wife is to be induced Wed. morning and I am getting nervous.  At least we have a date and don't have to worry about spontaneous birth.  I still find myself making sure that we have everything packed.

I am now rushing to learn how to use the video camera that my brother bought us.  (A Panasonic PV-GS300) I plan to start making a video of his trials.  (NOT OF THE BIRTH...but of him right afterwards...and him after operations...)  We figure that we will get to see him for probably 10 min before they cart him off to get hooked up to lines to measure his O2 sats. and etc.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks on how to use camcorders.  I have never owned one before now and man these things have a ton of features.  I already have the tripod so I know thats a must.

I start my leave of absence from work on Tuesday.  I am still not an Assistant Manger. They tell me that After March I will get moved up (March is the end of the remodel that my store is in the middle of.)   I hope that they are not yanking my chain.  I am counting on being an Assistant Manger to pay the bills....I know that God would not have given us this if we couldnt handle it.  It is still a scary situation.   I am learning about some new options available to HLHS fetuses.  It seems that Kenneth may be a member of the last generation to have this condition.  A new experimental operation is happening where they stick a needle with a balloon on the end into the womb and then into the babies heart that expends the aorta with very good success rates.   I am happy but jealous to hear that others may not have to go thru what Baby Kenneth will have to live thru.

Expect an update sometime Wed. telling of the size and weight and whatever else the wife tells me is important to put in a thread announcing the birth of a child&.

I'll be thinking of you.  Best of luck and may God be with you, your wife, and your son.  Did they give you any estimates on when he'd likely be able to come home?  Hopefully it won't be too long of a hospital stay.

Can't offer any advise on the camcorder.

JJ, I need no reminder of your original thread.  I've thought of you and your son, and am delighted to hear that you're anticipating his birth.     I look forward to the day when I can send you a birthday gift for him.  Stay strong.
