Anyone got an easy to install WYSIWYG wiki?  I don't have time to learn php and actually I have no desire to do so.

Also the server it will be hosted on I just have ftp privileges. Anyone got a solution?

I take it the server already has a current copy of MySQL and PHP, right?  Do you have access to the administrative MySQL user?

Wikimedia offers some very easy to set up installations of Wiki type software.  I don't have much experience with other editions, but you will need a significant level of access to MySQL to set it up.  At the very minimum you need to be able to create tables and it is best to be able to create new users and a distinct database for the wiki.

You either have access to a database or you don't.  If you do, then you have permissions to create tables or else it is worthless.  In that case setting up the wiki should be straightforward.  If you don't have access to a db, setting up the wiki will be impossible.
Call your server provider and ask what the info is for your database access, like hostname, username and password, and db name.
On two occasions, I have been asked [by members of Parliament], "Pray, Mr. Babbage, if you put into the machine wrong figures, will the right answers come out?" I am not able to rightly apprehend the kind of confusion of ideas that could provoke such a question.

That isn't quite accurate.  I routinely set up clients and client programs to have read and/or write only access to databases but restrict their ability to add or drop tables.  Most database systems allow for assigning pretty specific permissions (even down to granting access only to certain fields on certain tables).  No need to give a user more access privileges than they require.

I'm begging for SQL data base on the host server, so I'm learning new crap at my job. I guess I'll be learning php against my own will.

FYI, Wikimedia's free version of their Wiki software is designed to run on MySQL or PostgreSQL.

Don't worry, PHP isn't a difficult language at all.  It is actually one of my favorites for rapid web development and has come a long way since I first started playing with it.

when I get tweaked I'll share the address, but it for a research group where I work so it isn't for public usage.
