Anyone use an online FAX service?
« on: March 22, 2007, 09:55:34 AM »
I don't put paper in my fax machine because it all gets printed out into fax spam garbage about pizza and "free" trips to Cancun so I'm thinking it would be nice to recieve that stuff elsewhere so I can review and delete the garbage without using up all my film and paper. Do any of you have recommendations?

I used to have a fax number that went to my email.  Set up by our IT group.  Didn't seem to work right sometimes.  I am sure there are services.  Call your phone company.

Isn't that what email is for?  Same problem with spam without the paper.

Yea, I had tried the same kind of email thing a while back. Didn't seem to work for me either. Just thought I'd see if anyone knows of one that DOES work right.  grin

I got razzed by a client today for not having incoming fax. Thought maybe I'd try to do something about it. Other than set up the fax machine again, that is.  cheesy

The problem with the system I used is that is sent you a .tiff file or something like that.  It was large and difficult to view.  Also, sometimes I would get faxes that had a 1 year old fax still embedded in the attachment.  It was really weird.

At work now, our copier acts as a scanner and is set up with our email addresses.  We can scan a document to our email address and it comes in as a pdf file that can be forwarded or modified with the right program.  That system works very well and I like it a lot.  It works great for marking up drawings that have to be submitted with Management of Change paperwork.  If you could find a service that used Acrobat files, that would be best IMHO.
