Speaking of the original topic, is this thread about planes, or is it about flying boats? Make up your mind. ![Tongue :P](http://www.armedpolitesociety.com/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)
Well, somewhere I read of the distinction between "float planes," ie., a plane with floats affixed to them, versus "flying boats," aircraft with their hulls specifically designed for water, i.e. a boat that could fly.
I guess the generic term would be "seaplanes," except most of them use lakes. Hmmm.
Then there are planes with skis attached so I don't know what to call them.
I don't know what the hell to call this one... skis and wheels and retractible to boot:

"Amphibskious?"
Reminds me of the several designs (and there's a new one out, I guess) for cars which could fly. They're called flying cars, so pick your terminology.
Once the principle is proven, variants abound.

The next variant was to add a 12HP engine to it.
This variant had a few more engines added for 28,000 HP
