Ammoland has this story up.  I thought it would be good to post if nothing else than to save a story like this.

Man accused of killing another man with one punch at gas station

Quote
After talking in the parking lot, the suspect, later identified as 48-year-old Rodolfo Regino Jr., walked up to the other man and punched him one time in the face, causing him to fall backward onto the pavement.

Investigators said Regino then walked to his car and drove away from the scene.

The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be a homicide due to a blunt impact to the head.

I really doubt whatever they were fighting about that time was worth it to either of them.

  • I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.
it looks like he knew the guy and had a long running feud with him. Saw him at the gas station and walked right up and punched him in the face - but this time it was a perfect storm - as the punched guy fell, he hit his head on concrete ... so, not really a one punch kill more like an unlucky fall .
unfortunately most states will not let you shoot to avoid a fistfight.
I am sort of lucky in that NV grants special protections to "older people" if you attack an older person they can levy more charges, also - I had knee surgery ( ACL replacement ) and I cannot run away .

IMO one should be able to shoot an unarmed assailant - if you are an innocent bystander/jogger/dog walker - it should not be ok for random jerk to walk up and start punching you, but I do not rule the world - it is best to be very familiar with self defense laws where you live
Politicians and bureaucrats are considered productive if they swarm the populace like a plague of locust, devouring all substance in their path and leaving a swath of destruction like a firestorm. The technical term is "bipartisanship".

Not the knees but my back.  Surgery at 17 on two discs, then, about 7 years ago, doctor told me I had arthritis from the skull down.  I'm currently using a cane or walking stick (5') outside the house.
Not sure how idiotic the laws are here in "Obamaland" but considering virtually everything else, they have to be royally "F.U."

The objective of the "knockout game" (which some of the youts also call "polar bear hunting," in reference to the white hair of many of the victims) is a one-punch knockout, but if the victim doesn't go down, they'll do more.

One friend got tagged last year. He was walking down the street, next thing he knew he was waking up on the pavement.

Doesn't really matter if it was the punch or the fall, one hit and the guy is dead.  At least that is the way I look at it.

In Texas, "serious bodily harm" is one of the justifications for deadly force and court cases have backed up that an unarmed assailant can justify deadly force.  I thought most states have something similar in law, but the courts might define it differently.

Neighbor of mine a few years ago got into a vehicular duel with another guy.

The other guy pulled into a shopping center and Lee pulled in behind him, ran up and apparently ended up punching the guy in the  the head. Guy ended up developing a bleed and died.

Here we go, something else I posted on this incident back in February of this year:

"Back in 2013/2014 a neighbor in my community got involved in a road rage incident in which he ended up getting out of his car and punching a guy in the head. Bad mistake. Guy was taking the new gen blood thinners, developed an IC bleed, and died.

IIRC he was initially charged with second degree murder, but that didn't stand up.

OK, this article says that he wasn't charged with 2nd d murder, but was still charged with a felony, but that was later reduced to misdemeanors.

Did he get sued in civil court?

I'm not 100% certain what happened afterwards.

Did he get sued in civil court?

Most likely, assuming he had attachable assets after the criminal trial.
