I've been running an airbrush off a big CO2 tank. It works surprisingly well, but is not very convenient. Today I bought a small quiet air compressor with a 1 gallon tank. It will also come in handy for powering a finish nailer. I also bought one of these filters to attach to the air hose:
https://www.harborfreight.com/oilwater-separator-68246.html Being that the hose is for an airbrush, it has 1/4 NPS threads on one end and 1/8 BSP threads on the other so the filter will go at the compressor end of the hose, right after the pressure regulator.
I don't see any arrows to indicate the airflow direction, nor any markings that say IN or OUT. It's pretty obvious from the placement of the drain and also the picture on the back of the package that the male end is the inlet and the female end is the outlet. But will it work if I hook it up backwards? Backwards, I won't need to buy any fittings, but I'm concerned the moisture might get trapped in the filter media instead of draining into the bowl where i can empty it.
For such a low air volume and I'll be spraying water-based acrylic anyway, the filter might be unnecessary.
