Given a choice, go back to Mogadishu or go back to San Francisco I would be hard pressed to choose SF. It has after all become a small Mog. The only saving grace is you can drive away from it if needed. Not so much Mog. Still, I would be hard pressed to choose SF over Mog. Welcome the Priates of the SF Bay, and we aren't talking a sportsball team!

Ironically SF has a Barbary Coast so I would tell the navy to have at it. But knowing SF they will of course have an issue with that.

Hmmm . . . wasn't there some talk a while back about an APS pirate hunting expedition off the Horn of Africa? Maybe even paid excursion cruises with gun rental and ammo sales?

If we didn't have to go so far to set things up . . . maybe we have a business opportunity closer to home?

Maybe the honest boaters (if any) can form vigilance committees to offer discouragement to the pirates.  Too bad it's not open ocean, where things can be done surreptitously.

Around 1848, a group of volunteers from the Mexican–American War were discharged and settled in San Francisco.[6] Many of them were from New York City gangs from the Five Points and Bowery districts. About 60 of them organized into a gang named The Hounds, and they paraded around as if they were military, and even created a headquarters named Tammany Hall within a tent on Kearny Street.[7] In 1849, these thugs began to call themselves the Regulators as they harassed Mexicans and those of Spanish origin as well as extorted money from local businesses for protection services.[7] Anyone who did not pay was likely to lose a nose, ear, or suffer greater bodily injury. However, after a group of 230 men organized into a militia and confronted the Hounds with possible arrest, they quickly fled from San Francisco.[8]
