Tell me about...coastal NC
« on: May 24, 2005, 01:59:04 PM »
Just got word that a move may be in the immediate future. Anyone in the coastal NC area know about Elizabeth City/Edenton area? Housing prices, crime rate. etc?
TIA.

http://www.city-data.com/  is a good place to start.  I like its small town atmosphere.  Hunting, fishing, shooting, golf, exploration, boating.  You don't accidently go to Elizabeth City but that is not necessarily bad.  An hour north is Chesapeak / Virginia Beach/ Newport News. etc.

Good news is the town is a 7-iron from Blackwater rolleyes

I went to High School in Havelock.  I love Coastal NC!  Its great fishing, the beaches are wonderful, and the people are top notch.  I've got alot of tick-marks on my seabag, but NC is the only place I call home.

I lived in or near coastal NC until I was 8, so it's changed a lot since I was there, but I have good memories of the area.  I still visit often (family in the Piedmont region) and hit OBX once a year.  If you have a good job lined up, you could do much worse than NC in general.

BTW, go to Morehead City (or is it in Beaufort?) and check out The Sanitary Fish Market and Restaurant.  Very good food...
