I take it you were hunting the taiga (boreal) in Europe/Asia? Is that a Benelli rifle?

I didn't get a deer this past weekend, any deer that was in range was a skyline shot on a hilltop at 180yards. It was warm for December, so the deer were eating at night and bedding in tall grasses during the day. My group got 9 deer over the weekend, 3 bucks and 6 does.

One of the guys in the group tested positive for Covid on Monday AM, since we were all in the same cabin, I wonder how many of us are going to get it. I've had 2 negative tests so far, fingers crossed.

I really don't need any venison; I still got a 70# from last year. I shot a lot of big deer in 2021 and 2022.

The whole hunt lasted no more than an hour, then there was a fresh liver, a lot of vodka, sauna and all that ))) A very good and convenient hunting base, a lot of animals around.

That's all - the report is over))
Thanks for posting! Sounds like things have changed a lot.
A friend of mine went to hunt in Russia when it first opened to American hunters. They were still trying to figure it out. His .338 Winchester was confiscated when he arrived (even though he had cleared everything for the hunt). He got it back when he left. They loaned him an old military rifle and 6 cartridges and he had to turn in his empty brass. He had an interpreter and was housed with people that didn’t seem to have a choice and weren’t happy to be hosting him.
They had dogs and it was for bear and wolves. They kept a bear collared to a long cable to run the dogs on for training or exercise. He said the whole thing was pretty sketchy back then.
What we have here is failure to communicate.

Neat photos Opportunity! It's always interesting to see how hunting works in other parts of the world. I still fondly recall hunting with my Uncle in Germany, and it was certainly a different experience than hunting in the US.

This is Browning BAR MK3 rifle in 30-06 caliber.  No, this is not taiga in the general understanding of this concept, it’s just a forest area not very far from cities.
