Couple Dead in Murder-Suicide After They Were Featured on The O'Reilly Factor

Friday, August 10, 2007

A couple featured as wanted child predators on The O'Reilly Factor Wednesday were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide shortly after the segment aired, sources tell FOXNews.

Paul and Myrtis Gauthreaux were wanted by the FBI for engaging in sexual conduct with minors and appeared on a segment of the show that profiled alleged child pornographers.

After seeing the OReilly Factor segment, a relative of the couple called them before notifying the FBI of their whereabouts. When federal investigators arrived at their home, the Gauthreauxs had fled to an undisclosed location. The FBI said Paul Gauthreaux shot his wife dead before turning the gun on himself.

The child victim that the Gauthreauxs photographed in online photos was later identified and found safe.

I think the relative ought to be charged with aiding and abetting a felon for calling them before calling the FBI. I just don't see any problem with the outcome, myself.

I would hate to see the relative punished unless they knew about their activities prior to this and didn't report it.

It depends what the relative said when calling the pedophiles.  My best guess is that he asked if the allegations were true; if aiding /abetting were the intent, why would he call the FBI?

I also see no problem with the outcome.  My feelings aside, it atleast saved us the cost of a trial.

  • Ever get that sinking feeling?
Why would you call them before you called the FBI? Seems counter productive to me.

Well I would like to sincerely believe that I'm not related to any pedophiles.  If I saw something like that where relations of mine were shown to be pedos on national TV my first thought would be to confront them either in person or on the phone immediately before doing anything else.   I don't believe everything I see on television.  If they admitted to it or I had reason to believe the television report was accurate, I'd set up for them to meet me somewhere and then call the police and set up an ambush.

welcome to my world, kids. You do NOT want to know just how pervasive and widespread such people are...

dude... I just spent the day trying to secure help for a PI that travels the country working on cases like this. It's all over, and at all social and economic levels. From lower and middle-class families that simply abuse their kids to upper class/wealthy families that even pimp their kids out, and spend a great amount of time interacting with similar families (to trade for new pictures and favors from each-other's kids)...

To add insult to injury (this should hit you close to home, fistful), a great many of them may very well be sitting next to you in church: seems many find Christianity a GREAT form of camoflage for what they do/are. The one case we worked a few months ago, there was some form of Christian "parephenalia" on almost every wall (pictures of Jesus, crucifixes, posters with Christian sayings). All camo, hiding the monsters...

Y'all excuse me, I think I need a drink... Sad
