Play that funky music
« on: November 02, 2007, 04:19:53 PM »
The final countdown...basketball games start in one week, and you know what that means-PEP BAND! It's nice playing in the pep band because the musicians get a free ride; we get into the games for free. Plus, it's a lot of fun to make my horn sing, sing sing with a group of other talented musicians.

Had a pep band rehearsal today, and since school's out at 11 am for me, I was sure I went and played... it was come on feel the noize! You should have heard the saxes jump, jive, and wail today at rehearsal. They were pretty good. The directer added a bunch of songs to the folder too, so we played some new material, really pushing the band to its limit. Of course, I go to extremes too when the director leads the way.

Now we've somehow got to get the Marquette mascot (Golden Eagle) to shake a tail feather while we're playing. I'm looking forward to the games, because the pep band should be the vehicle for a lot of the enthusiasm in the games. You should see the campus; the whole atmosphere is get ready for this! I'll bet the first game will be a sell out.

Your assignment: try to list all the song references in the above post.  grin

Vehicle - Ides of March
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Wow Cosine, I literally can't remember the last time I've been that enthusiastic about... well, just about anything. I'm a bitter old man at 24. sad

I think I have a naturally sanguine nature... that'll take care of the enthusiasm part. Wink
But then again, two months into it, I know I see still college through rose-colored glasses. Who knows, in another four years things might be different.
