Actually, they covered that pretty often on the show too. I don't know about "pencil necked geeks" though... mostly those characters were just too narrow between the eyes.

Because she lives in Michigan and there are a lot of people unemployed people with law degrees here.

I'd go for it. I really considered it and probably would have enlisted if circumstances had been different.

Duty. Service.

No one in my family has served in the military since 1945.  I think we owe the nation about four years out of every fifty or so.
That's all.  Very simple, old-fashioned reason for joining up.  That I waited until now is mostly because my life wasn't together enough before.

I would't sweat it.I freely admitted to having smoked pot (including an arrest and conviction for misdemeaner possesion) to the Navy, and my security investgator, and still got a secret clearance no problem.They are WAY,WAY more interested in you not having bad credit, too many or large outanding debts, etc.

Yeh, I'd settle for Navy, seeing as how they hire most of the lawyers...
