Depending on whos car it is, police cars seem to have an amzing array of antennas on them. I noticed one the other day, a VA state trooper I believe, that had four small antenna in a square with a larger one in the middle. What are all of them for?

There is a large variety of radio systems in use by police. They have have a few different bands of voice antennas, data for the computer terminal, a mobile extender setup (particularly on a state car), CB, etc.

Wow- so those are for TRacking lojack!
very cool. thieves suck.
i had a clown steal a motorcycle, then steal MY motorcycle plate- and replace mine with the stolen bike's plate. very lucky i figured it out and called the cops myself, cop told me i wouldnve been on the ground first, figure out if it was really my bike second.
they ended up catching him and offering me my plate back

I've been wondering this too. I saw an Ohio HP cruiser the other day and it had eight antennas on it, plus the factory radio antenna.
