While campaigning for a third term, Roosevelt was shot by a madman and, instead of treating the wound, delivered his campaign speech with the bleeding, undressed bullet hole in his chest. On the other end of the spectrum, reasons why certain members of the Cracked Editorial Staff have called out of work over the last year include:

I have heard about him getting shot and then finishing the speech.  I doubt a President these days would get away with that as SS would tackle him and haul him off the hospital before he could "wait".

I don't think I ever learned what Benedict Arnold did until my college history class.  The high school class just covered the basics, but that was one big omission.

college history pretty much just spents the entire time debunking the myths feed to you in grade school. in fact i think the only useful think i learned in high school history was the 2 rules for taking over europe.

1.) you need a boat to get to england.
2.) do not, i repeat, do not invade russia in the winter.
