ATA = out of business.

Aloha = closed up.

Champion Air = done May 31st.

Skybus = done today.

That is good for my airline, but damn, that is a bunch of defunct airlines in just a few months.

Sounds like some of the major airlines can't afford to service their planes properly, either.

Southwest can afford it, but FAA officials are cheaper to buy.

I've often wondered if the airline bosses started scrimping on maintenance, why the pilot's and steward's and stewardesse's unions wouldn't raise hell since those two group's lives depend more on good maintenance more than the traveling public.

Interesting about ATA since they were one of the contract carriers for the military.  They lost that contract for some reason and couldn't afford to stay in business.  Good thing in my opinion.  Flew on one of their planes and what a piece.

Yep.  Announced it last nigh, effective today.

I had a hunch it was coming, since both the CEO and VP Flight Ops quit in the last week or so.  I didn't expect it to be so soon though.

Yeah why be hard on your future employer if you're FAA Management?

Because they don't want to close their exit hole. Just like they will never vote themselves term limits, or turn down a pay raise.
