Ever experience those black Skilcraft made by the blind "US Government" pens that leaked everywhere?

I think you can assume that any of us who are vets have "experienced" them many times over.

Any thread by Mike Irwin that has "stimulated" in the title is just plain wrong....and I don't care how many bad pens it contains....

BTDT.  That is why I stopped "borrowing" them. laugh

Just the governments way of stimulating the economy.  I mean all the paper, ink, envelopes and stamps used to send out the letters.  Plus because of the government mandate out there that they are supposed to use products from an approved list of vendors, which usually hire the physically or mentally challenged, they are keeping Americans in jobs.

As I recall those pens had a very odd smell to them, too. The plastic had this really odd odor, as did the ink.

Throw a couple of them in your desk drawer over night, open it the next day and it would positively reek.

Maybe it has something to do with the blind people who made them.

Heh.  I had forgotten all about those pens.  My father works for the feds (BLM), and used to bring one of those pens home every once in a while.  We had a half dozen or so of them rolling around when I was a kid.  I do recall the strange odor they had.

Made by or made of......either would explain a lot.....

My dad used to bring them home inadvertently in a briefcase or pocket, too, the FAA used to use them. Not deliberately, because they were invariably either dry, leaking, or both.

If left in a car in Florida heat in the summer, they'd explode in a puddle of ink.

I was going to ask how blind people do quality control on pens, but I think I have an answer.

Maybe the smell is so the workers can find them when they come back from lunch?
