Anyone actually use Liberty Mutual?
« on: July 17, 2008, 11:03:18 AM »
Their ad campaigns are pretty irritating and distasteful.  I've gotten junk mail from them randomly, and based on NRA and ABA affiliations.  Lately I've been getting ads targeted specifically at ABA Student Division members.  We just renewed our car insurance, after trying and failing to find a cheaper rate.  I'm tempted to get around to checking these people out, but also just feel skeeved out by their ads.

Anyone use them, like them, hate them, etc?

They have been on an acquisition binge lately, and consequently, my auto, homeowners and personal umbrella policies have been with them for the past few years.  Liberty bought up the Pacific NW insurance companies with whom I had placed my policies.

I have no complaints.  Then again, I have not had any sort of claim for decades, so I have not had any personal experience with their claims process.  I was surprised to recently discover that they don't write any two-wheeled vehicle coverage.  So I had to place my motorscooter with Progressive and Liberty wrote an endorsement to my personal umbrella excluding coverage for the scooter.

Isn't your Husband Military (or Ex-Military) ??  Check out USAA.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Usaa ftw! I love them soooooo much. By far the best customer service I've ever experienced, from any kind of business.

Nope.  We both wanted to be, both never made it happen.

None of your parents or grandparents either? I'm not sure about aunts and uncles, but it's pretty easy to get in.

I shopped around for car insurance a few years ago, and found that Liberty Mutual was the only company that undercut my policy with Allstate.  I also checked with Progressive and Geico, both of which were nearly double what I was paying at the time.  shocked

So I attempted to switch.

I paid for a policy with LM, and after five weeks, had not received any documentation.  By that point, having made several phone calls over the previous few weeks and receiving nothing but lame excuses, I canceled the policy and demanded a refund.

I got it, but it took a while.  Quite a contrast to the fifteen seconds it took them to deduct my initial payment from my checking account.

In retrospect, the lower price (only $30 less per month for three vehicles on full coverage) wasn't worth taking a risk on a company whose reputation and customer service were unknown to me.

Allstate is a great company with reasonable rates and good customer service, so I am staying put.

Grandparents, of course. if that will qualify us, I'll check it out.  I guess endlessly pestering a long string of recruiters from evry service doesn't count, eh?
