Of course, how many here can fire a subgun while riding a bike?.....

Depends which. M3A1, using a sling to help, probably. It has such a low rate of fire that it's very controllable. Sterling, with the stock out or held close along the arm, probably. The Sterling could be "shot from the hip" held in close if you put a laser on it, likely. I really like that one. MP5 with the stock, likewise. Skorpion, most assuredly, and probably easily...weak round, though. Others, dunno.

Anyone got a bike and a bunch of Dynamit-Nobel blue training ammo to try? Smiley

This is a "put your money where your mouth is" deal.....otherwise, we'd have to take it out of Mike's salary and G98's ethanol kickbacks......  grin

Well, I also don't have any of those guns, I've just shot them. You'll notice I didn't include the Thompson, I know that'd just wander off for orbit if you didn't have a good grip on it.  cheesy

I somehow can't see someone lending a more-than-$18K gun for something where it might get dropped on pavement.

It may be faster than a speeding Meatloaf; but anyone riding one is still a sitting duck.

Its not an infantry fighting vehicle. It is for someone to get from point A to point B a little faster and easier than running/walking when a car is not the appropriate means.
I know what they are not, and what they are good for. As depicted in both photos posted so far - they are not good for, for the reason I pointed out.

For what they are good for, a bicycle costing but a minute fraction will do the same thing; and allow jumping curbs and other obstacles, travel off paved surfaces, and not require expensive battery packs to charge, replace etc.

And I perhaps couldn't find two more graphic examples than the two posted photos. In the first one, about the only thing a shooter might find easier targets are full torso silhouettes - as opposed to the "mere" half torso silhouettes afforded by the clowns on their elevated platforms.

And that is not even taking into account bullets deflected by the horizontal surfaces of the car. Stand on a segway, and try and make a split second jump sideways from one and you will get an idea of how ... uh .. ungraceful you are going to look falling awkwardly to the concrete when bullets start flying and you realize you are in fact a sitting duck.
I am not advocating Segways in lieu of police cars, or bicycles for that matter, or even walking. And I think most of us (except maybe Fistful) agree the depicted use in the photographs is not really a good idea. Its a PR stunt.

For other uses, they make some sense. Getting a cop into an area fairly quickly and without having to expend a lot of energy is one of those sensible uses, using it as an assault vehicle is not.

Doood!  I take my Segway to the range ALL THE TIME!  It's a whole lot easier to hit the ten-ring, when you can just zip in a few hundred yards closer.

Yeah....hitting your target is a lot easier when you can prop your muzzle against it...  cool

Do you wait for a cease fire, or go out while the range is still hot? grin

Honestly, the off-road version of the Segway would seem to be just the thing for changing targets at over 100 yards&

And there is a prototype (Centaur?) that runs mainly like a four-wheeled quad-runner, but can rear up into a perma-wheelie like a Segway for manuvering in tight quarters.
I promise not to duck.

For some reason, everyone leaves very quickly, when they see me hop on the dork-a-cycle with a loaded gun.

Ok, ok, they leave as soon as I show up.   sad

That reminds me of some nonsense I heard from a comedy show on NPR a couple of weeks ago.  Apparently, George Bush tried out the Segway a while back, fell off, and made the mistake of letting the press get wind of it.  So these ignorant bozos from NPR were making jokes about him being "they only person in history to fall off of a Segway."   rolleyes  I've ridden a Segway very briefly, along with some of my co-workers.  Um, some of them fell off.  It's easy to do.

In reference to above, probably on 'Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me", a joke that's too true to be funny:

GWB and the Pope take a boat trip on the Potomac.  The Pope's hat falls into the water.  GWB tells the pontiff not to worry.  He tells the skipper to stop the boat, then steps off and walks across the water to retrieve the Pope's Hat.  Photographers capture the moment.  What's the headline in the next day's New York Times?

I saw a lady riding on one down at "the mall"(in DC) screaming at her kid to peddle faster on his bike following her. I had such emense joy when she fell off while yelling at him then him running over her that words cannot describe. I was laughing so hard when the cop came up that he asked the inevitable here's your sign question.

Except it'd likely get you if you dropped it. They're not really drop-safe.
