A new roof
« on: August 20, 2008, 01:42:14 PM »
As part of our effort to get our house ready to put on the market so we can flee Wisconsin, we just had a new roof put on. Cost was $4500. We've been sinking money into all sorts of things. $5000 for new bathroom tile and fixtures, $1000 for a couple of sidewalk slabs, $1000 for painting the garage, and on and on and on. We're probably looking at $10,000 for basement work.

The roof is great, but it's a roof. $4500 and it doesn't look like anything special.

Meanwhile, I've been passing a used car lot about three times a week where there's a 2007 Mustang 4.6 liter GT for sale. $22,675. It's bright red, has the whole GT styling package, screams like a banshee...I love it. It's the first time I've been in love with a Mustang since the 1992 body style was phased out. Sitting in the car is like sitting in a fighter jet. The owner beefed up the suspension, so handling is great. It does 0-60 in 5.3 seconds and the 1/4 mile in about 13+.

But I can't have it. Instead I have to spend money on things like a roof.

Sigh.

It would have been far cheaper to fly me to whereever it is you live, feed me steak and beer and pay my $300 a day minimum.  As long as you buy the materials, we would be good to go. grin
