I'll be honest.  I really hate to see Christmas stuff before Halloween.  As I was born on Halloween, the holiday is a pretty big deal to me.  I go all out with decorations and stuff.  So see Christmas stuff is such a let down.

Where have you been?

Some stores around here have had their Christmas stuff up since the last week of September.

I kid you not.

Apparently not recently going into large retail chains other than Trader Joes and Costco. I needed the "Are you sure you're not a meth cook? Sign for that!" kind of sudafed.

The lady at the counter said nobody is buying anything of it, either.

we got naighbors that get it out like the day after holloween. of course the only reason they go after holloween is because they got the holloween stuff out.

then the santa puke stays and grows until you end up with the insane desire to break out the .22 and start deflating the blow up reindeers and beheading the plastic elves.

its that bad, i'm telling you.

Interestingly in the thread like this a few weeks ago, I complained about Costco having decorations up AND playing music. I was there yesterday, and no more music. Gotta wonder if they got complaints.

I remember commenting a month or so ago that I went into Home Depot, on a HOT day in Michigan, and the entire seasonal section was Christmas crap.

Honestly by the time Dec. 1 rolls around, I am already sick of Christmas.  ;/

I had commented in an earlier thread that the local Ace Hardware was putting their x-mas crap out on Labor Day Weekend.

Someone should write a screenplay about the subject of a government experiment who is programmed to kill whenever he hears "White Christmas."

It is a shame hat the seasons have become so blurred or just discombobulated. It used to be, way back when, that Christmas stuff did not come out on display until after Thanksgiving. This is one of the reasons that the day after Thanksgiving is one of the busiest shopping days of the whole year (used to be THE busiest). I suppose the jerks who run places like Rite Aid, Costco, Lowes have no imaginations, no smarts either, if they think that this is the way to do business, by beating the other guy t the punch. I don't buy Christmas items from any store before the day after Thanksgiving.

All the best,

The one amusing thing about the inflatables is that they sometimes take off in a good nor'easter. Especially the giant inflated snowglobes.

My idea was to run underground air-lines and imbed green lawn-colored PVC tubes with spring loaded lids, flush with the turf, similar to an in-ground sprinkler system. The appropriate season's inflatable decorations just pop out on their own, then deflate and get sucked back inside, all controled by a timer in the house.

Mrs. Dual's idea was to have a clear viny LED light-rope with every possible color in it run around the trim of the house, left up year round. And have a control box that only put out the proper holiday color scheme. Orange and UV-purple for Halloween, red-white-blue for the 4th. All the colors at once for Christmas etc.

I promise not to duck.

Actually, if it weren't for the huge liability issue, flaming piles of stone and concrete rubble and a couple of strategically dug flaming "hell-bound" holes, all having propane lines run to them would be pretty cool for Halloween.

Oh yeah, with this projected into the house's front picture windows. http://hallowindow.com/

I was just thinking of fireball-detonating inflatable christmas yard decorations, accompanied by "Ride of the Valkyries".
